Panini Announces Contenders Short Prints

Per a press release from Panini, the following players are short prints in the Contenders set:
"The following players are printed to 499 or fewer: Hasheem Thabeet, James Harden, Tyreke Evans
, Jordan Hill, Brandon Jennings
and Tyler Hansbrough.
These players were produced to 649 or fewer: Blake Griffin, Dante Cunningham, Earl Clark
, Jonny Flynn
, Stephen Curry
and Terrence Williams."
We here at Penny Sleeves guessed that Harden, Evans, Jennings and Clark were SPs but we did not see it coming with Griffin and Curry.
Clearly, the big names get listed en masse like Griffin and Curry and we believe that's what threw us off.
Additionally, although there are SPs in this set its really not quite the same as football with guys #'d to 21 etc. Click the player names above to see what of the SPs is available on eBay!
Panini Limited – now appearing on eBay
Panini's most recent basketball release, Panini Limited, has now started showing up on eBay.
Clicking "Panini Limited," above will take you to an eBay search showing you the early selection available. Overall, I think the cards look pretty nice. We obviously have much to see yet, including the on-card "Glass Cleaners" subset but so far, so good. Here are a few of the initial cards that caught my eye at first glance.
Big pulls out of 2009-10 Topps
As I mentioned in a previous post, due to Topps' NBA license expiring soon, they have thrown the kitchen sink into their latest Topps base product. A pack of normal Topps now gives you a shot at Logomen, Laundry Tags, Patches, all sorts of Game Used Cards, Topps Chrome Gold Refractors and Superfractors, on-card MCDAA autos of guys like Blake Griffin, Event-Used Autographed Letters and more.
That being said, here are 5 gorgeous cards to come out of the Topps release.
1. Kobe Bryant Logoman - maybe the card in the entire product? Sold at auction for $1,426.
2. Dwight Howard Logoman - another beauty, this time of Super Man, I really enjoy the simple design of these cards. This card went unsold when posted as a buy it now or best offer at $800, then sold for $355 at auction.
3. Blake Griffin MCDAA Auto - I have always liked the MCDAA cards and I think these look very nice autographed. Most already have Griffin down as the ROY. Copies of the Griffin have been selling for in the $200 range.
4. David Lee Laundry Tag Patch - You get almost the whole laundry tag in this sweet patch, again, the simple design makes it look better. This sold for $175 at auction.
5. Tyler Hansbrough Topps Chrome Superfractor - I am not of fan of Tyler but many are and if I was busting for value, I would not have been sad pulling this card. Sold for $256 at auction.
I just have to include a picture of this Isiah Thomas Logoman, which sold for $280, as well.
Although many collectors are saddened by the expiration of Topps license. These same collectors are certainly benefiting from chances at pulling these kind of cards out of Topps' standard release!
